This information covers the harmonized meaning of definition and standardization for use in AFSIS project. 2. Time Scale
Time scale of this statistic will inform data in monthly and annual reports. The monthly reports show data by month, such as crop calendar. Other reports are annual reports, such as production, and economic information.
For annual reports, there are two possible time scales: crop year and calendar year. Crop year is the time period (generally the 12-month period) from one harvest to the next, varying according to the commodity and the country in which it is grown. Calendar year is the period of time from 1 January of any year through 31 December of the same year. Due to the difference of the crop year in each country, the crop year should be inconvenient to use for AFSIS project. Therefore, the better time scale for AFSIS project should be calendar year. 3.
